A knight was a gentleman and was trained as "a man of war" in medieval Europe. Knights were also known as elite warriors who defined the ideal of chivalry. They promised to help the weak and to be polite and respectful to all ladies. They were loyal to their king and served God in times of need and were merciful to their conquered enemies. Knights were also expected to be humble before others to obey their superiors.
