Australian 1 SQN SASR (Special Air Service Regiment) / Sergeant - Barney

Officially formed in July of 1957 as the 1st Special Air Service Company, the unit was expanded in August of 1967 to full Regiment strength. The emblem of the regiment is the black flash with a gold winged dagger worn on a beige beret.
The SASR was first deployed in Brunei in 1965 and since that time been deployed in numerous theatres. Members are highly trained in all types of operations and the SASR has established an outstanding reputation as a special force unit. Most recent of the SASR deployments were in Afghanistan and Iraq in support of coalition forces.
